Working Principle
The TDS-100 clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter operates on the transit-time principle. A pair of transducers mounted on the pipe wall alternately transmit and receive ultrasonic signals. When fluid flows, the downstream transit time decreases and the upstream increases; the time difference is proportional to flow velocity. High-precision timing circuits and digital signal processing calculate instantaneous flow and totalized volume.
Construction
The flowmeter consists of a converter, clamp-on transducers, and signal cables. The converter has a cast aluminum enclosure with IP65 rating. Transducers use piezoelectric elements housed in stainless steel, coupled to the pipe wall with acoustic gel. Mounting modes (V, Z, W) are selectable based on pipe diameter and wall thickness, requiring no process shutdown.
