The standard orifice plate flowmeter is the most widely used differential pressure throttling device. The standard throttling element is recognized by international standards organizations and can be put into use without real-flow calibration. It is suitable for all single-phase fluids (liquids, gases, steam) and some multiphase flows, and is widely used in general process measurements in industries such as petroleum, chemical, power, and metallurgy.
Measurement Principle
When fluid flows through the orifice plate, a differential pressure proportional to the square of the flow rate is generated across the throttling element. Combined with a differential pressure transmitter, the flow rate can be calculated. The sensing element and the differential pressure display instrument can be selected separately, offering flexible configuration.
